Which days is FedEx closed for the 2026 holidays?

FedEx parcel and express freight services are closed on three days, and FedEx Office locations close on the same days. The schedule covers all U.S. and international parcel and express freight services except LTL freight, so FedEx Freight is not part of it.

What does "modified service" mean at FedEx?

Modified service means FedEx still picks up and delivers, but on-call pickups and drop box pickups happen earlier in some areas, and some drop boxes close. On Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, FedEx Ground pickups are modified too, and FedEx Office locations keep modified hours, with some closing early. Are FedEx delivery times later during the holidays?

Yes, for some express services. From November 23, 2026 through January 4, 2027, FedEx extends delivery commitment times by 90 minutes on First Overnight, Priority Overnight, 2Day AM and the Extra Hours versions of First and Priority Overnight. Does FedEx deliver on Saturday and Sunday?

FedEx Home Delivery delivers to residences on Saturday and Sunday, typically by 8 p.m., at no additional charge. FedEx says it reaches 98% of the U.S. population on Saturdays and nearly two-thirds on Sundays. FedEx Standard Overnight, Priority Overnight, First Overnight and 2Day deliver on Saturday only, for an additional fee; FedEx SameDay delivers on Saturday and Sunday.

What are the FedEx shipping deadlines for Christmas 2026?

For arrival by Thursday, December 24, 2026, ship FedEx Ground Economy by December 15 and FedEx SameDay as late as December 24. FedEx Ground and FedEx Home Delivery depend on transit time: ship by December 17 for a 5-day transit and by December 23 for a 1-day transit.

FedEx Ground transit within the contiguous United States is typically 1 to 5 business days, and 3 to 7 business days to and from Alaska and Hawaii.
