How to Return an Item to Nordstrom

When you take the right steps, it is easy to return an item to Nordstrom. Nordstrom takes returns either by mail or in-store. However, Nordstrom or Nordstrom.com purchases are not refundable in Nordstrom Rack outlets. Below are the detailed steps to follow to send back a product to Nordstrom.

Step 1: Select Your Return Method

The first step is to choose your preferred method of returning your item. Nordstrom supports returns, either by mail or in-store at Nordstrom. Select what is most convenient to you.

Step 2: Start the Return Online (For Mail Returns)

In case you have already purchased it online, log in to your Nordstrom account and start the process of making a return through your order history. In case of no account or inability to locate your order number, Nordstrom enables you to print your own return form and attach it to your package.

Step 3: Get Your Prepaid Return Label

Nordstrom provides a prepaid return shipping label after you initiate your return. Within the United States, returns given under this label are free. The label also has tracking, which allows you to track your return and see how it proceeds through the process.

Step 4: Pack the Item Correctly

Before shipping your return, make sure that the item must be packed in a proper package. The item should be matched with the right return label. Products received with wrong labels or improper packaging are not eligible for a refund.

Step 5: Deliver or Drop Off the Package

The prepaid return label may be printed in the comfort of your own home or scanned by a QR code at any of the acceptable USPS or FedEx facilities to have the label printed out. After sticking the label, drop the package at the specified carrier location. The processing of returns normally takes place between 10 and 14 business days once received.

Step 6: In-Store Return 

In case you choose to return your item physically, bring it to any Nordstrom store. Carry your receipt or order confirmation and pay with the original mode of payment so that it is quickly processed. The store staff did the return at the register. 

Nordstrom Returns Policy

Nordstrom has a flexible return policy. The returns and exchanges have no applicable time restrictions.  In case the items look worn, altered, damaged, or used, Nordstrom has the right to refuse a refund. Designer items, special-occasion dresses, and fine jewelry, along with some luxury products, are not usually refundable once the tags have been removed. 

Within the United States, returns are free, but with international orders, it is not possible to have free returns and exchanges. In case of international returns, the cost of return shipping and handling costs is deducted from your refund, and no original shipping costs are refundable.

Gift cards are non-refundable. Boutique products should be sent back to the store of purchase. Some of the products can be returned under special conditions, such as Balsam Hill, Casper beds, fine jewelry, and Watchfinder and Co products, which can either be final sale or insured shipping with signature delivery. Nordstrom can demand personal identification in case of a lack of evidence of purchase.

Nordstrom Refunds

Nordstrom refunds are issued back to the method of payment used or a Nordstrom Gift Card. When the purchase record is not available, the refund is made on a gift card at the present price of the item. Mail returns are processed within up to 14 days after receipt. Depending on your bank, refunds can be received 3-5 business days after processing.

There are no refunds on shipping fees. PayPal, Afterpay, and split payment refunds are sent back in an equal proportion to the original payment method. 

Nordstrom Rack Refunds

Refunds issued at Nordstrom Rack are refunded to the original method of payment or in the form of gift cards. Mail returns with the prepaid label are returned within 3-5 business days after the return is received, although the customer should allow 7-10 business days after the item is received before it gets to the Returns Center. Late returns within 40-60 days (online) or 30-60 days (store) will be refunded 50% as an electronic gift card. There is no refund of shipping costs.
