If you buy something at Gap and want to return it, you can ship the eligible item within the provided time frame under the refund policy to receive the money back based on the original payment method.  Products should be untouched, uncleaned, and unutilized, and all original tags and packaging should be in place. How to Return an Item to Gap?

Gap provides various options for returns based on the place and mode of purchase. Orders placed online can be returned via mail or in-store. The Gap online orders have the standard return process as follows.

1. Log in to Your Gap Account

Visit the Gap online store and sign in. Select Order History to locate the purchase that you wish to return.

2. Select the Order to Return

Select the order and click Return Order. Choose the item that you wish to return.

3. Choose a Return Reason

Choose a reason for returning and verify the state of the item.

4. Generate a Return Label

Gap enables you to print a prepaid UPS or USPS return label for eligible returns. Print the label and retain a copy to track.

5. Pack Your Items Securely

Package goods in original packaging or a heavy shipping box. Products should be unwashed, unworn, and untouched with labels on them.

6. Include Proof of Purchase

Attach the original invoice or order confirmation to the package.

7. Attach the Return Label

Take off the previous shipping labels and place the new return label on.

8 .Drop Off the Package

Depending on the label you have chosen, drop the parcel either at an approved UPS Store or USPS Post Office.

Note: When sending back goods outside the US, you may not have prepaid labels, and therefore, you will be required to order your own return label through a trusted courier to prevent delays and denied refunds.

Gap Returns Policy 

Gap return policy aims at being fair and maintaining the items in resalable conditions. Here is guidelines for returns and exchanges of items at Gap: 

  • Goods should be unused, unwashed, and not worn.
  • Original tags and labels should be attached.
  • Standard Gap returns must be returned within 45 days after purchase.
  • Evidence of purchase must exist.
  • Any damaged or faulty goods may be returned at any time.
  • Swimwear should contain the original hygiene liner.
  • Products that are labeled as mail only cannot be refunded in-store.

When customers use the Gap returns process, the return is free for the eligible items. However, international customers might be required to organize their own courier service. Gap also provides in-store returns on online purchases, provided that the item is not limited to mail returns and is returned in the same country of purchase.

Refunds are normally processed within 5-10 business days upon receipt of the return. Refunds are made on the basis of the initial mode of payment. Depending on which bank you have, credit and debit card refunds can take longer to appear in your account. Online credits, where applicable, can be done more quickly.
